Potluck of Links, Only Partly Sorted

This is a bunch of links. I started collecting these in my old site's link directory, many years ago, and added to them. Since I'm a hoarder, it's really hard to let go. So, what I'm doing here is popping in all the links from miscellaneous files in my Southern Muse backup. That way, I can delete the files in my computer, or at least, store them somewhere where they won't get in my way all the time. When I get a chance to sort these links, I'll try adding them to the blog in separate sections, with labels, such as "art," "history," and "genealogy." Till then, here we go....

By the way, please forgive us if any of these links are broken. In fact, we probably should have pulled our newest potluck page only (too late now). This is just a quick cut-and-paste effort to salvage all. We'll try to check them out later.

Purpose of This Blog as a Link Directory

This blog is a link directory, with sites of interest to Southern Muse. If you wanted the short answer, that's it. If you want the history of how my site directory came about, read on... Years ago, I guess about the year 2000, I submitted a few URLs to DMOZ, which was the search engine back then (or one of them). Then I tried out as a DMOZ volunteer for the North Georgia Region. Since I was a newbie, DMOZ decided to give me one town, Eton, Georgia. I poked around and discovered that Eton probably only had one registered website ~ mine. Even Shaw Industries (at that time, the world's largest privately owned carpet mill) didn't have a website, or if it did, I couldn't find it. It got pretty boring managing Eton, Georgia, and its one known, bonafide website, so I gave up being a DMOZ volunteer. It occurred to me that, being a "webmaster" (applause) I could just create my own link directory, and add any link I liked. Since my site had been submitted and ...

Privacy Policy

Our privacy policy is simple: We don't want to collect information on you and wouldn't know how if we did want to. Of course, if you click on any of the external links in this blog, it will take you to a new site, and we don't know what they might do. These links lead to sites that were of some interest to our muse ~ mostly art sites, history sites, and southern sites. Some of the sites are pretty obscure, and when we first collected their web addresses, a long time ago, our little directory helped people find them. Just to be safe, if you are at all worried that we might be collecting information, feel free to leave the site. By the way, we might use third-party vendors or widgets in our blog and our design, if they look cute or helpful. If so, those third parties may have an entirely different privacy policy. This blog was built on Blogger (Blogspot), now owned by Google, so any other privacy concerns you might have are probably served by Google's current privacy ...
